Abstract

A computational model of solvolysis of composite materials used for wind turbine blades is developed. Depolymerization of the composite is simulated, considering the coupling effects of diffusion and dissolution rates, microstructure, and defects. It is demonstrated that composite defects formed during manufacturing, like voids or inhomogeneous fiber distribution have a negative effect on the quality of recycled fibers after solvolysis.image (c) 2024 WILEY-VCH GmbH
